Radio Adygea Marks Its Centenary

The Republic of Adygea has celebrated the 100th anniversary of the launch of radio broadcasting. A commemorative event was held at the Pushkin People’s House in Maykop, bringing together staff from the Adygea State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (GTRK "Adygea") and veterans of the republic’s radio service. Representatives of government authorities, public figures, and members of the creative community attended to offer their congratulations on this milestone, which is significant for the entire republic. This was reported by the newspaper *Sovetskaya Adygea*.

Viktor Orlov, Deputy Chairman of the Republic’s Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Finance, conveyed congratulations to the team at GTRK "Adygea" on behalf of the head of the republic, Murat Kumpilov.

The 100th anniversary of radio broadcasting in Adygea is more than just a date; it represents a turning point in the history of the republic. The first radio programs in the Circassian (adyghe) national language appeared in 1926 (at that time, they were broadcast from Krasnodar).

A century ago, for those living in remote areas, the radio was a marvel of progress. It did more than just transmit information—it fundamentally transformed social, cultural, and political life.
