The grand opening of the 6th "Golden Sausruko" International Film Festival took place in Maykop, the capital of the Republic of Adygea, at the Children's School of Arts No. 1. Previously known as "Adygea, I Love You!", the festival has gained international status this year and adopted a symbolic name that references the rich cultural heritage of the Circassian (Adyghe) people. This was reported by the *Sovetskaya Adygeya* newspaper, citing the festival's organizing committee.

The opening ceremony featured performances by the republic's creative groups and a screening of the documentary *Guardians of Culture* by Adam Achmiz, an Honored Artist of Adygea and Director of the GTRK "Adygea" broadcasting company.

Yuri Autlev, the republic's Minister of Culture, noted that the region places great emphasis on the development of cinema. He added that it is no coincidence that Adygea's premier film festival bears the name of the Nart hero depicted on the republic's coat of arms.

"Sausruko brought fire to the people. I hope that our festival, much like this hero of the Nart epic, will carry the fire of enlightenment and culture," said Yuri Autlev.

This year, the competition received a record number of entries—over a thousand works by filmmakers from 22 countries. Following a rigorous selection process, the committee included 51 films in the festival program from Russia, Belarus, Brazil, Mongolia, Spain, and Uzbekistan. Another 12 films will be screened out of competition.

Filmmakers will compete for awards in four categories: feature films, documentaries, animation, and films created using neural networks. The festival will also present awards for Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Director. The film that receives the most votes from the audience will be awarded the Audience Choice Award.

Special festival certificates will also be awarded to films in the national competition category, which features filmmakers from Adygea.

"Over the six years since our inception, we have come a long way—evolving from a short film competition with 21 submissions into an international film festival. 'Golden Sausruko' has become one of Russia's most popular film festivals, ranking among the leaders in terms of the number of submissions received," said Askarbiy Nagaplev, the festival's founder, an Honored Art Worker of Adygea and Kabardino-Balkaria, and Chairman of the Adygea Regional Branch of the Russian Union of Cinematographers.

Over the course of three days, audiences can view the competition entries at several venues: the "AIKO Cinema" and "Joy Land" cinemas, as well as the "Gigant" City House of Culture. As part of the festival's "Echo" program, the best films will also be screened in other municipalities across the republic.

The films will be evaluated by a professional jury led by Dmitry Yakunin, a Russian film producer and board member of the Regional Cinema Support Fund.

The winners will be announced on October 16. The awards ceremony will take place at the Adygea State University concert hall.

The 6th "Golden Sausruko" International Film Festival is organized by the Adygea Regional Branch of the Russian Union of Cinematographers with the support of the Head of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, the Khazret Sovmen Charitable Foundation, and a grant from the Republic of Adygea for the development of civil society.
