A formal ceremony to hoist the state flags of Russia and Adygea (western part of the Circassian homeland) took place near the main entrance to the City Park of Culture and Leisure in Maykop. The flags now fly at a height of 40 meters, thanks to flagpoles installed in the city center. The newspaper Sovetskaya Adygeya reports.
The event was attended by residents of the republic’s capital, as well as local youth and cultural organizations. Municipal performing arts groups also took part in the ceremony.
The state flags of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Adygea will tower above the surrounding structures, remaining visible from various points across the city. The flags themselves measure 7.5 by 11.25 meters. Additionally, a lighting system has been installed, ensuring that these national symbols remain clearly visible even after dark.
"I am confident that this site will become yet another landmark that draws in both local residents and visitors to Maykop!" wrote Murat Kumpilov, Head of the Republic of Adygea, on his social media channels.
