The World Sambo Championship for youth and juniors is currently taking place in Thessaloniki, Greece. According to the Republic of Adygea’s Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, an athlete from Adygea—Circassian sambo wrestler Ali Tsey—has won a gold medal at the competition.
A total of 55 sets of medals in sport and combat sambo are being contested at the PAOK arena. Over the course of several days, representatives from national federations across various age categories will take to the mat.
On the first day of competition, Ali Tsey, representing Sports School No. 1 of Adygea’s Takhtamukay District, secured victory in the under-58 kg weight category.
"Congratulations to Ali and his coach, Rustam Dzharimok, on this excellent result! It is a well-deserved outcome born of hard work, determination, and discipline. May this gold medal mark the beginning of a great journey!" wrote Asker Savv, Head of the Takhtamukay District, on social media.
The championship concludes on October 4.
