On September 16, 2026, Circassian wrestler Tamerlan Kumyshev from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (the eastern part of the Circassian homeland) won a bronze medal at an international freestyle wrestling tournament dedicated to the memory of the first president of the Chechen Republic, Akhmat Kadyrov. The competition took place in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic.
Tamerlan Kumyshev competed in the under-125 kg weight category. In the match for third place, he decisively defeated Turkey's Dogan Uzun with a score of 12–2.
A total of 173 athletes participated in the tournament, including 97 representatives from foreign countries and 76 wrestlers from the Russian Federation.
