A new project by folk artisans from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (eastern part of the Circassian homeland) will adorn an underground transit hub leading to a historic castle in Thuringia, Germany, according to the press service of Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU).
A monumental panel created by Alim Pasht-Khan and Murat Khashu will be installed at the funicular station, which connects via elevator to the Porcelain Museum at Leuchtenburg Castle. The 13-meter-long textile piece combines tufting techniques with approximately 40 exclusive porcelain elements. This art installation will become the largest tapestry in Thuringia.
"We drew inspiration from geological structures—specifically the cross-sections of rock strata exposed during the excavation of the tunnel through the mountain," Alim Pasht-Han said, explaining the concept.
Notably, Pasht-Khan holds the world record for creating the world's largest porcelain vase -standing 8 meters tall—which has been on display at the same museum complex since 2015. The new installation is set to be unveiled this November.

Alim Germanovich Pasht-Khan (Pashtov) is a Circassian renowned artist, graphic artist, sculptor, and media artist. He was born on July 13, 1972, in Nalchik, into the family of the famous artist German Pashtov. He currently lives and works between Russia and Germany.
Murat Khashu is a Circassian artist and folk artisan from Kabardino-Balkaria, as well as a documentary filmmaker. He was born, lives, and creates in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, where he has been awarded the title of People's Master. In his art and projects, he actively draws upon the culture and traditions of his native region.
