Over 1,000 applications from 22 countries have been submitted for the Golden Sausruko Film Festival, which will be held in Maykop. This was reported by the Sovetskaya Adygeya newspaper, citing a statement from the project's organizing committee.
The festival will run from October 14 to 16. The selection committee is currently developing the competition and non-competition programs, which will be published on the project's website. The first will consist of four categories: feature films, documentaries, animation, and neural network films. This year, the festival will also feature a national competition, in which the jury will select the best feature films, documentaries, and animations from Adygea filmmakers.
"In 2026, the organizing committee received 1,081 applications—an all-time record for the six-year history of our film festival, which was previously known as 'Adygea, I Love You!' and this year received international status and a new name—'Golden Sausruko.' This speaks to the growing interest in the venue and its expanding audience," said Askarbiy Nagaplev, Chairman of the Adygea Regional Branch of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 6th International Film Festival 'Golden Sausruko,' commenting on the results of the application campaign.
Participants from Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Germany, India, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Singapore, the USA, Taiwan, Turkey, Chile, and Uzbekistan will present their works. Russian authors submitted the largest number of applications. Representatives from Adygea submitted 10 works.
"We were particularly pleased that this year, for the first time, entries from Adygea were represented in all competition categories—feature films, documentaries, animation, and neural network films. This demonstrates the development of cinema in the republic, which is one of the main goals of our film festival," explained Askarbiy Nagaplev.
As a reminder, the film festival has been held annually by the Adygea Republican Branch of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, with the support of the regional government, since 2021. This year, the event received international status and a new name—"Golden Sausruko." The project's founder is Askarbiy Nagaplev, Honored Artist of the Republic of Adygea and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and Chairman of the Adygea Regional Branch of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia.
The Golden Sausruko International Film Festival aims to strengthen the all-Russian civic identity and unity of the multinational people of Russia, foster patriotic education, harmonize interethnic relations, and strengthen friendship between the peoples of the Russian Federation, while also promoting the best examples of Russian and foreign cinema in the Republic of Adygea and Circassian (Adyghe) cinema worldwide.
