The beautiful Circassian mountaineer Alina Pekova from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (eastern part of the Circassian homeland) announced her inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records on Tuesday, June 23. She is recognized as the youngest woman to have climbed all 14 of the world's highest peaks.
"Now I am officially included in the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest woman to have climbed all 14 eight-thousanders in the world," the athlete wrote on her personal blog.
On October 9, 2024, Alina Pekova became the first person in the Russian Federation to complete the ascent of the 14 highest mountains on the planet.
The most recent summit on this list was Mount Shishabangma, located in the Himalayas. Over the course of a year and a half, the climber climbed Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat, and Annapurna, all located in the Himalayas.
She also conquered K2, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Broad Peak, all part of the Karakoram mountain range.
