During the "Information Technologies and Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation" conference held in Moscow, the inclusion of the Circassian (Adyghe) language in the Yandex Translate platform was officially announced. Murat Kumpilov, Head of the Republic of Adygea, announced the announcement.
Now platform users can translate texts from Circassian (Adyghe) into over 100 other languages and vice versa. This feature is already available on the Yandex Translate website and mobile app, as well as in the thematic translation section in Search, Murat Kumpilov said.
The head of the republic clarified that the project was implemented by Yandex in collaboration with the House of Peoples of the Russian Federation, with the support of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs, as part of the state program for the preservation of the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation. The linguistic dataset necessary for the launch was collected and transferred to the developers by specialists from Adyghe State University.
The head of Adygea emphasized that the implementation of this tool will allow all interested parties to study the Circassian (Adyghe) language, become familiar with original texts by national writers and poets, and further explore the rich Circassian culture.
