Festive events in Adygea - 102 years of the Caucasian Nature Reserve

 


A series of celebratory events will be held in the Republic of Adygea on May 12 to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Caucasian State Nature Biosphere Reserve. This was reported by Sovetskaya Adygeya, citing the press service of the Caucasian Nature Reserve.

It is noted that on the reserve's anniversary, admission to recreational and excursion sites and participation in environmental education events are free.

A demonstration lesson, "Secrets of Science in the Caucasian Nature Reserve," and a screening of the film, "High-Mountain Plateau. A World in Miniature. Secret Mechanisms of Nature," are scheduled at the scientific department of the Caucasian Nature Reserve in Maykop from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Trivia about the reserve will also be held there. From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, guests will be able to watch the film "The Ark" and attend a lecture and presentation on "Scientific Research in the Caucasus Nature Reserve." The Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve is the largest in territory and the oldest, specially protected natural area in the Circassian homeland the North Caucasus. Located within three constituent entities of the Russian Federation - Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea and the Karachay-Circassia Republic.

The reserve is located in the Western Caucasus, on the border of the temperate and subtropical climatic zones. It is the largest mountain-forest reserve in Europe. The total area of ​​the reserve is over 280 thousand hectares.
