Caucasus Reserve: Summer tourist season routes for 2026 will open in June

 


Staff from the Caucasus State Nature Biosphere Reserve  have inspected the mountain routes. According to preliminary assessments, conditions indicate a late opening of the hiking season, the reserve said in a statement.

"There's no need to plan any hikes for May. Mid-June will likely be the start of the summer tourist season," the reserve's staff reported.

Tourism de partment staff have already outlined plans for trail repairs and improvements. All major preparations will begin after the snow melts.

The Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve is the largest in territory and the oldest, specially protected natural area in the Circassian homeland the North Caucasus. Located within three constituent entities of the Russian Federation - Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea and the Karachay-Circassia Republic.

The reserve is located in the Western Caucasus, on the border of the temperate and subtropical climatic zones. It is the largest mountain-forest reserve in Europe. The total area of ​​the reserve is over 280 thousand hectares.
