Circassian judoka Ayub Bliev from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (the eastern part of the Circassian homeland) won first place at the Judo Grand Slam tournament in Dushanbe, Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by the head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov, on his social media page.
In the final bout in the 60 kg category, Ayub defeated judoka from Ukraine.
"I sincerely thank Ayub for his strong will and high professionalism! I wish our champion and his coaches good health, happiness, good luck, and even more sporting achievements for the glory of the Fatherland!" the head of Kabardino-Balkaria said in a statement.
